When you use Upsilon you can set the brightness level with shift + or shift - with different levels
If you play with python to change the brightness many times, then when you use the shortcuts you just can set the brightness to two states (min or max)
I don't know if it is clear :p

You can do it in the brightness menu by setting the shortcut steps to 15.
