Problem or Use Case

It would be nice to see a printer's camera feed without having to pop it out into a new window. Also to be able to view multiple feeds at once.

Proposed Solution

It would be great if there was an embedded camera view available on the card for each printer on the Printers page. Ideally with the option to view the feed larger within a modal dialog.

Perhaps the existing model thumbnail could be swapped with the camera feed when desired. Clicking the model thumbnail itself could swap to the camera view and vice-versa, with a tooltip / hover animation of some sort as a hint of the functionality.

Perhaps there could also be a button in the header near the Add Printer button, to toggle showing the cameras for all printers at once and vice versa.

Alternatives Considered

Another idea, rather reusing the model thumbnail area, is to have the camera feed appear below the print status, but I feel this would require using the existing camera button. Personally I will never use that button as I do never want to pop out a camera feed into a new window, but I understand that others may be attached to the way it works now.

@maziggy commented on GitHub (Jan 20, 2026):

This would require a change of the layout which is currently not in focus. Perhaps you are fine with a compromise ;)

I added a setting to choose wether the cam view is opening in a new browser window or embedded into the printer screen. Position and size are persistent.

Available in branch 0.1.6b10
