Problem or Use Case

Currently, Bambuddy lacks a way to track and allocate printing costs across different users/projects. In Issue #730, a way to track costs by user was introduced. However, we still lack a more detailed accounting system and manual tracking of filament costs and project billing is time-consuming and prone to error. For shared environments, I consider this as crucial.

Proposed Solution

Thus, I propose a dedicated accounting system, with the following features:

  • Individual Accountability: Every user has a private "account" for personal prints.
  • Collaborative Projects: Admins can create shared cost centers (e.g. "Project A" or "Department X") where multiple users can draw from a collective pool of funds.
  • Budget Control: To prevent waste, each cost center can have a limit (either a fixed total or a monthly budget).
  • Cost Center Management: Create, edit, and assign users to cost centers.
  • Prompt users to select a cost center before initiating a print.

Basically, I already implemented this feature, however, if this is considered a useful addition to Bambuddy, I have to do some rework, tests, etc.
