💡 Idea
In ntfy links, add optional parameter for implicitly setting display name when first subscribe. The parameter could be something like
ntfy://<host>/<topic>?displayname=FriendlyName. This is useful for sharing a topic having a long unfriendly (password-like) topic name. Users can still rename if they want.💻 Target components
@DJCrashdummy commented on GitHub (Oct 19, 2023):
IMHO not just Android & iOS apps are the target... it should work pretty much everywhere!
this will even help noobs if they just click the link and don't touch anything else to distinguish the subscribed topics after some time.
and also for power users this might be nice as it for one doesn't need any additional description if you want to note the link and if you didn't use export/import for your topics, it still spares a lot of unnecessary typing.
@DJCrashdummy commented on GitHub (Oct 19, 2023):
there seem to be even more use cases of URL parameters: #597

This is done for Android and will be released in 1.21.x, see https://docs.ntfy.sh/subscribe/phone/?h=links#ntfy-links
