For my usecase, I only need notifications to work when my phone is connected to wifi. The ability to restrict the network connections to only happen when connected to wifi (as opposed to always which includes cellular data) would be nice.
This type of feature is not unprecedented. On Android apps like Syncthing (data sync app), DAVx5 (CalDav app), Feeder (RSS app), etc offer options to only activate on wifi and to remain inactive during cellular data.
